“He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. … As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.”Psalm 103:10-12 (KJV)
Two measurements are given in this psalm, and both of them are deliberately impossible to reach the end of.
The psalm begins with a negative and it is worth sitting on: He hath not dealt with us after our sins. Whatever you have received from God, it has not been the strict accounting your record deserved.
Then the distance. Not north and south, which have fixed poles and a measurable maximum. East and west, which never meet however far you travel. The measurement was chosen to be unreachable.
Your past is real and its consequences may still be with you. But its power to define your standing before God was broken at the cross. Do not carry what He has already removed.
A prayer to close
Merciful God, thank You that You have not dealt with me after my sins. Help me to stop carrying what You have removed. Amen.
