The Gospel, Plainly
Scripture says that every one of us has sinned and fallen short of God's glory, and that the wages of sin is death. That is the honest diagnosis, and no amount of good behaviour afterwards settles a debt already owed.
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”Romans 6:23 (KJV)
What God offers is not a wage but a gift. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, lived without sin, died in our place, and rose again. The exchange is complete: He took what was ours so that we could receive what is His.
Receiving that gift involves two things that Scripture always keeps together. Repentance is turning from sin and turning to God. Faith is trusting Christ, confessing Him as Lord, and believing that God raised Him from the dead.
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”Romans 10:9 (KJV)
Notice what is not required. No payment. No membership. No probation period in which you prove yourself first. He knocks, and the handle of that door is on your side.
Weigh It Yourself
Read these slowly. They are the ground the invitation stands on.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

God's love is not a feeling He announced; it is a Son He gave. Before you cleaned yourself up, before you understood doctrine, He had already moved toward you.
“Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.”
Acts 3:19 (KJV)
Repentance is not punishment; it is the road to refreshing. Blotting out comes first, then the seasons of renewal.
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
Ephesians 2:8-9 (KJV)
A gift cannot be earned without ceasing to be a gift. Works follow salvation as fruit; they do not purchase it.
“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”

He knocks; He does not break in. The handle on that door is on your side, and today it can be opened.
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Confession is not informing God of news. It is agreeing with Him about what He already sees, so that cleansing can begin.
“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”
Romans 8:1 (KJV)
Conviction draws you toward God; condemnation drives you away from Him. In Christ, the second has no legal claim on you.
Pray This From Your Heart
The words are not magic. What matters is that you mean them. Say them out loud if you can.
Lord Jesus, I believe that You are the Son of God. I believe You died for my sins and rose again. I repent of my sins and ask You to forgive me. Come into my heart, be my Lord and Savior, and guide my life from this day forward. Amen.
