“Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”Ephesians 6:11 (KJV)
Read Paul's list of armour and notice how ordinary every piece is.
Truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, the word of God, and prayer. There is nothing exotic in the list. The armour is a description of a life lived honestly before God.
That corrects any approach which treats protection as a technique. The best-protected believer is not the one who knows the most dramatic prayers, but the one walking in truth and holiness.
The stated goal is modest and repeated: that ye may be able to stand. Not to hunt for battles. To remain standing when pressure comes.
A prayer to close
Father, I put on the armour You have provided. Keep me walking in truth and holiness, and help me simply to stand today. Amen.
