“A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench.”Isaiah 42:3 (KJV)
A prophecy about the Messiah's manner, and it is gentler than most people expect.
A bruised reed is worth nothing. A wick that has stopped burning and is only smoking is finished. Both are things a person would ordinarily discard without a thought.
The prophecy says the Messiah will do neither. Not that He will admire them, but that He will not finish off what is already nearly gone.
If your faith is more smoke than flame at the moment, that is exactly the condition this verse was written about. He is not looking for a reason to be finished with you.

Lord Jesus, my faith is more smoke than flame. Thank You that You do not discard what is nearly gone. Breathe on it again. Amen.
