How to read the promises of Scripture carefully, so that faith stands on what God actually said.
Nothing damages faith faster than claiming a promise God did not make. When it fails, people conclude that God is unfaithful, when the truth is that the promise was misread.
So read carefully. Ask who the promise was spoken to, what exactly is promised, and whether a condition is attached. Philippians 4:19 promises need supplied according to His riches. It says need, not every want, and it was written to a church that had just given sacrificially.
Some promises are unconditional, such as God's commitment never to leave His own. Others carry a clear condition, such as 2 Chronicles 7:14, where humility, prayer, seeking, and turning come before hearing, forgiving, and healing.
Reading this way is not small faith. It is faith with its feet on solid ground, and it can survive disappointment because it never overclaimed.
