Many people intend to come to God once they have improved. Scripture says the love came first, and the improving follows.
There is a quiet delay that keeps sincere people away from God for years. It sounds like this: I will come back when I have sorted myself out. It sounds respectful. It is actually a misunderstanding of the gospel.
John says love did not begin with us. It began with God, and it arrived while we were still the problem. If His love had waited for our readiness, no one in history would ever have qualified.
This matters for how you come. You do not have to arrive with your life presentable. You come as you are, honestly, and He begins the work. The order in Scripture is always grace first, then change.
If you have been waiting to feel worthy, the waiting is the only thing standing in the way. He has already moved toward you. Turn and meet Him.
