What it actually means to receive Christ, stated as plainly as Scripture states it, with the invitation left open.
Paul reduces salvation to two things, and he does it without lowering the cost. Confess with the mouth that Jesus is Lord. Believe in the heart that God raised Him from the dead.
The word Lord is the weightiest one in the sentence. To confess Him as Lord is to hand over the direction of your life, not merely to add Him to it. Savior rescues; Lord governs. Scripture always gives us both together.
Belief in the resurrection is equally deliberate. Christianity does not rest on good teaching alone. It rests on a claim about an event, and if that event happened, everything else follows.
There is no ceremony required to begin, no membership to purchase, no waiting period. Confess Him, believe Him, and begin to follow Him. Then tell someone, and start walking with God's people.
Lord Jesus, I believe that You are the Son of God, that You died for my sins and rose again. I repent of my sins and ask You to forgive me. Be my Lord and my Savior, and guide my life from this day forward. Amen.
